Water & Wastewater Rate Study
Mr. Parker and Mr. McClung
recently completed a Water and Wastewater Rate Study for
Hernando
County. The County owns
and operates a municipal water and wastewater system providing utility
services to both residential and nonresidential customers within the
County. Recent acquisitions by the County, which more than doubled the
utility system’s customer base prompted the need for a comprehensive
rate study to be performed to provide a review of existing rates and
ensure the adequacy of rates and charges to recover the utility’s cost
to serve this expanded customer base. Additionally, the utility has an
aggressive capital improvements plan and a 5-year projection of
operating results was developed in order to provide the City with a
strategic planning tool for determining the funding mechanisms for those
projects and for estimating future rate impacts.
